Fishing Report for July 9th

We left our dock in Marblehead about 630 in the morning with a beautiful sunrise behind us as we headed west.  I had a plan to fish the Catawba area, as I had heard a few good reports from there earlier in the week.  As I came around the corner it didn’t appear many boats were out there fishing yet and not wanting to gamble running south a couple miles, I made a choice to head northwest towards Green Island.  As we went past the island and the State Park of South Bass Island we began to mark some nice schools of Lake Erie Yellow Perch.  We dropped the anchor and began our Perch Charter with a nice one as soon as the first spreader reached the bottom.  It was good indicator for how the day would be as we quickly pulled almost 3 of our 6 limits in the first hour.  The fishing was fast and furious for about 2 hours as our clients got there limits in near record time.  The Captain’s limit seemed to be the hardest one to get but I was able to help out the crew and catch mine as well.  After we wrapped up the morning with our limits we had about 2 hours left of their Lake Erie Charter so we decided to try for some Walleye and managed to land a nice one that would add to the cooler.  It turned out to be an amazing day on the water and we gained some more future clients that said they will choose to fish with us in the future.

Good luck and we hope to see you out there!
